English isn’t my first language, so I built my own translator for client calls. I speak Indonesian and the client hears my words in English; when the client speaks, the Indonesian translation appears on my screen.
Below is a replay of a short sample call, shown the way the app shows it. The real app runs on my Mac with Apple’s speech recognition and translation; this page only replays the sample sentences. Press play to hear the English voice the client hears.
Press “Play sample call” to watch both directions of a call.
I press the talk button and speak. The app writes down what I said, translates it, and speaks it into the meeting as my microphone in an English voice.
The app listens to the meeting audio and shows the Indonesian translation on my screen, line by line.
When a sentence has a price, a date or a quantity, I confirm the English text before it is sent, so quotes and deadlines come out right.
